Holy Land Christian Ecumenical Foundation (HCEF) www.hcef.org, Rockville, MD
President/CEO (1998-Present): Social Entrepreneur & Founder of HCEF, a charitable 501(c)(3) non-profit, charitable, development organization, with over 20 programs and initiatives,. After recognizing a vacuum in the NGO arena, I stepped up to develop and start various valuable programs to highlight and bring awareness of the plight of the Palestinian people. Developed and advanced all aspects of the organization’s operations; Oversaw daily matters, including resource procurement, marketing, financial analysis, management, administration, and program development, with a strong emphasis on educational, job creation programs; Created organization from the ground up into a well-respected, highly productive, and well-run foundation, nationally and internationally; Connected the West to Palestine and Palestinians through religious tourism and economic opportunities; Advocated for justice and peace in Palestine on every imaginable level of society and government, from churches and communities to the U.S. Congress, the State Department, and the White House. Among HCEF’s important achievements are the Bethlehem Museum and the Know Thy Heritage Youth Leadership program.
Know Thy Heritage, Inc. (KTH), www.kthps.org, Rockville, MD
President/CEO/Founder. (2011-Present) Leadership program has grown into a global movement, connecting Palestinian youth in the diaspora to their shared homeland by building a network of advocates to collaboratively work together for the unification of Palestinians. With over 450 alumni from 25 countries and 5 continents. Building on the success of this leadership program, the KTH has transitioned into a standalone organization (Know Thy Heritage, INC.).
KTH enables youth of Palestinian origin living in the U.S. and elsewhere around the world to “explore & Serve Palestine”. Today, KTH empowers Palestinian diaspora youth by providing them with a better understanding of Palestine and its cultural aspects, including customs, history, language, religions, traditions, music, as well as economic, political, and social structures and conditions, to serve as Ambassadors of Peace.

The Jerusalem Peace Institute (JPI) emphasizes Jerusalem’s unique role as a symbol of shared humanity, revered by three major faiths—Judaism, Islam, and Christianity—and governed by two peoples, Israelis and Palestinians. Through advocacy, innovative programs, interdisciplinary research, and impactful publications, JPI promotes the vision of a just and lasting peace in Jerusalem. The organization fosters dialogue, understanding, and collaboration, highlighting Jerusalem’s significance as a cornerstone for global peace and coexistence.
Rateb Rabie was Director of Operations for Support service and Industrial Catering, British/Saudi Corporation Saudi Support Services, Ltd. He later moved to Jordan where he ran his own company, Reem Support Services, supporting charities such as Save the Children Fund. In 1989, he returned back to Washington, DC, where he worked for the Marriott Corp. as well as founded several businesses, including Image Printing & Publishing, Inc. and Vision Management & Consulting, Inc.
HONORS AND AWARDS:
- Co-Founder and past national president of the Birzeit Society.
- Co-founder of the Institute for Health, Development, and Research in Palestine.
- Knight Commander of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulcher an honor from the Vatican.
- 4th Degree Knight of Columbus
- Chairman of the U.S. Christian Muslim Coalition (CMC) for combating anti-Muslim and Islamophobic biases, and the Protection of Christians and Religious Minorities in the Arab World
- 2007 Arab American Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC) Faith and Tolerance Award recipient. This Award is given to individuals working with faith-based organizations that encourage cooperation and peacemaking in the Middle East.
